Today was the first day of practice for the Trojan Football team and from the get go, Mark Sanchez looks like he is ready to take control of this team.

Freshmen that performed well: TE Blake Ayles, CB T.J. Bryant WR Brice Butler and LB Uona Kaveinga.

New face in the crowd: Transfer WR Jordan Cameron performed well on his first day.

Tweak of the day: Joe McKnight hobbled off the field, saying he tweaked both ankles.

Surprise Quarterback: A new mystery walk-on, #19 suited up as a quarterback.

Celebrity Quote of the day: Trojan great, Anthony Davis, "You can talk to me, I'm not like these new players with attitude, I'm 'Old School,' man!"

Coach Carroll quote of the day: "They (players) will have to match me, I'm so pumped up."

It was nice to be on campus again and the anticipation of football season has Howard Jones Field buzzing with excitement.

Thursday practice time at Howard Jones field: 3:00pm.

Lono's pick for 2008: Trojans will win the national championship once again.
