USC Comes Away with 21 Medals, the Last is Gold
When the U.S. Men's Volleyball defeated Brazil in the gold medal match, Gabe Gardner became the last Trojan to medal. Gardner played for USC in 1996 and 1997 before transferring for his senior season.
Overall, athletes from USC fared well in Beijing, 21 total medals being higher than most countries that sent representatives to the games.
The final medal count for the top three nations stood at 110 (USA), 100 (China), 72 (Russia). If USC were a nation, it would have been 13th overall.
