USC's Soni Wins Gold!

USC Senior Rebecca Soni Brings Home the Gold

After winning the silver medal earlier in the week in the 100m breaststroke, Rebecca Soni broke through and won a gold in the 200m breaststroke. This also marks the first individual gold medal in the Beijing Olympics by a Trojan. On Thursday, Erik Vendt and Klete Keller, clinched gold medals when the Americans took first in the 4x200m freestyle team relay.

With Team USA Swimmers cheering her on, Soni set a new world record at 2:20.22, overwhelming a highly favored Leisel Jones of Australia. Soni will swim the breaststroke leg for the U.S. in the 4x100m medley relay later this week.
